Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth's (UMD) Kate Lange and Ashley Hinsch have been named players of the week by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), that after helping the Bulldogs to two wins over top 10 opponents this past weekend.
Lange was named the NSIC offensive player of the week, marking the third time she's earned the conference award this season. The Hibbing, Minn. native posted 43 kills in the two matches, including 25 in Friday night's 3-1 win over five-time defending NCAA Division II champion Concordia St. Paul.
Lange is now averaging 5.15 kills per set for the Bulldogs, which leads the nation at the NCAA Division II level.
Hinsch, meanwhile, was named the NSIC setter of the week after dishing out 92 assists in the Bulldogs' two wins. She also posted 12 digs and three blocks for UMD over the weekend.
The award is the second this season for Hinsch, who ranks third in the NSIC with an average of 12.51 assists per set for UMD.
