Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Hibbing, Minn. native Kate Lange swung her way into program history for the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) volleyball team this past Friday night, passing Vicky Braegelmann to become the Bulldogs' all-time kills leader.

"I'm kind of shocked that it's already happened, but it's a really cool feeling," Lange said of owning the record. "I look at that list of names, and there's some great volleyball players. It's pretty humbling to know where I am."

Lange now has 1,864 kills in her career, with the record-breaker coming the night of Oct. 25 when she fired a match-high 29 in a 3-2 road win over Wayne State.

"It's a very special accomplishment for her, but it doesn't even begin to tap into the things she's provided for this program," head coach Jim Boos said. "That includes the volleyball side, the intangibles, and the personality. All of those things are part of what she brings, and she's just been a joy to have."
