Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Several Northland natives were among those to set program records for the St. Scholastica men's outdoor track and field team over the weekend, with the team competing in three different locations.
Two Harbors, Minn. native Ryan Guentzel was part of the Saints' spring medley relay team to finish 15th at the Drake Relays in a program-record time of 3:31.17. The other three team members were Samora Johnson, Justin Hanson, and Luke McKenzie.
Guentzel, Johsnon, and Hanson then teamed up with Two Harbors, Minn. native Alex Horoshak in the 4x200-meter relay, finishing in 1:31.55 to mark the second-fastest time in St. Scholastica history.
Proctor, Minn. native Charlie Habermann was the other guy to break a program record, finishing the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Kip Janvrin Open in a time of 9:48.44 to break his own previous record by 29 seconds.
The Saints will next be in action at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championships, with that meet scheduled for May 4 in Morris, Minn.
