Ashland, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Northland College will begin competing in 2013-14 athletic year in both men's and women's golf as a member of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), it was announced on Tuesday.
"At this juncture, golf is a perfect fit for us," Northland athletic director Bill Wilson said. "Northland's golf programs will provide a great opportunity, particularly for many high school golfers in Wisconsin and Minnesota, to continue their playing careers while getting a great, affordable college education."
The college is still finalizing plans with a local golf course in the Ashland area to provide a home course for its new teams.
