Anchorage, AK (NNCNOW.com) --- Freshman goaltender Matt McNeely earned his fourth straight win between the pipes on Saturday, and the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) men's hockey team got its first series sweep of the 2012-13 season.

McNeely stopped 16 of 17 shots in the contest, backstopping UMD to a 2-1 win over the University of Alaska-Anchorage (UAA) and a four-point conference weekend for the first time this year.

Duluth, Minn. native Andy Welinski scored the first goal of the game for the Bulldogs, that coming on the power play just 5:16 into the contest.

UAA would later tie the game in the first period, and it wasn't until the third that UMD senior Mike Seidel found the eventual game-winning goal with a quick shot right after an offensive zone faceoff.

For Seidel, the goal was his team-leading 11th of the season and boosted his point total to 19. Freshman Tony Camaranesi had two assists in the Saturday night win to also put him at 19 points this season.

UMD ends the first half of the season with a (7-8-3) overall record and a mark of (5-6-3) in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, putting the team in sole possession of seventh place.

The weekend sweep also marks the first time UMD has taken two wins against UAA in Anchorage, Alaska since Oct. 18-19, 1996.
