Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) has released its official logo and tournament information for its inaugural 2013-14 season, with the official announcement coming Thursday morning as part of the Let's Play Hockey Expo in St. Paul, Minn.
The logo for the NCHC's inaugural season can be seen as part of this story, representing the conference's namesake and showing stars for each of its eight charter members.
"We’re excited about our new logo, which was designed with the input of all of our member institutions," NCHC commissioner Jim Scherr said. "It captures the spirit and traditions of our teams and their programs, as well as the significant place that college. Ice hockey holds in American sport."
Additionally, Thursday's announcement also included confirmation that the 2014 NCHC championship tournament will be held at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn on March 21-22.
The tournament will feature the top four teams from the NCHC, with the winners of each quarterfinal series gathering to decide the conference champion.
The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) is one of eight charter members to form the NCHC, joining Colorado College, Denver, Miami, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota, St. Cloud State and Western Michigan.
