St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The No. 1 ranked University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) volleyball team fell to the second best team in the nation, Concordia-St.Paul, on Friday night 3-2 in St. Paul for their first loss of the year.
The five-set affair marked just the second time this season that the Bulldogs had gone five sets all seasons and the first for the Golden Bears.
UMD won the first game 25-23, Concordia won game two 25-16, UMD took game three 25-22, the Golden Bears evened things up at 23-16 before knocking off UMD 15-8 in the final set to win 3-2.
Senior outside hitter Kate Lange led the Bulldogs with 21 kills while sophomore blocker Monica Turner added 13 of her own.
Sophomore setter Ashley Hinsch notched 53 assists, and junior libero Julie Rainey led UMD with 24 digs.
The No. 1 Bulldogs play again on Saturday when they take on Minnesota State Mankato at 4:00 p.m.
