Northland Names Wilson as New Athletic Director

December 13, 2011 Updated Dec 13, 2011 at 2:17 PM CST

Ashland, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Bill Wilson was named Monday as the new Athletic Director at Northland College, replacing 12-year predecessor Steve Wammer.

Wilson is in his third year as head women's basketball coach at Northland, part of his 23 years of experience within collegiate athletics.

Last season, he led the Lumberjills to the NCAA Division III national tournament while posting an (18-9) overall record, marking the first time a Northland team has qualified for the women's NCAA tournament.

“Northland College is a special place because everyone here is genuinely concerned about the success of our students,” Wilson said. “In athletics, we understand that the best measure of the success of our program is in how we help our student-athletes strike a balance between achieving success in the classroom, in the athletic arena and as citizens."
