Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- For the first time in program history, the St. Scholastica football team reported to preseason camp on Friday without Greg Carlson at the helm as first-year head coach Kurt Ramler greeted 85 players to campus.

Carlson, who retired last winter, was replace by Ramler this spring. The team will spend the weekend getting to know each other before their first practice on Monday.

Ramler admits it doesn't get much better than the start of a new season.

"I'm excited. This is the day that every football coach looks forward to. This is about as fun as it gets to see the families, to see the kids, and get started."
