Rapids' Havel Headed to Sweden for Hockey

Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Grand Rapids, Minn. native and recent Bemidji State graduate Jessica Havel will continue her hockey career as a professional in Sweden this fall, she confirmed to NNCNOW.com on Thursday afternoon.

The 5-foot-7 goaltender will join Sweden's Gotenborg HC at the end of August before their season gets underway in September.

In her four seasons with Bemidji State, Havel posted a (5-17-1) record with a 3.83 goals-against-average.

Although she signed the team's contract two weeks ago, Havel admits she's still in disbelief about the news.

"I think about it and one, I'm a professional in Sweden terms," she said, "and then I'm going to get paid to do something I love. So I'm really excited. I never would have imagined this."
