Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The St. Scholastica football team avenged its first week loss in a big way on Saturday night, running all over Iowa Wesleyan College 47-10 en route to setting a program record in rushing in their home opener.
The Saints finished with 427 yards on the ground and average 8.7 yards per page. Cory Gebhard hauled in three touchdown passes to lead St. Scholastica.
St. Scholastica jumped out to 24-3 halftime lead thanks to 373 total first half yards. The Saints defense held the Tigers to just 63 yards.
Saints quarterback Tyler Harper finished the day 20-of-28 for 255 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for 72 yards on 10 rushes. Jake Jensen ran 23 times for 174 yards and a TD.
Gebhard led all receivers with 121 yards, tying a program record with three touchdowns.
It was Iowa Wesleyan's first game as a part of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and first at the Division III level.
The Saints (1-1, 1-0 UMAC) travel to Crown College next Saturday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
