Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- St. Scholastica junior catcher Bonnie Kowalczyk has been named by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) all-Midwest region first team, it was announced on Monday.
Kowalczyk led the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) this season with 56 runs batted in and 19 doubles, both of which are St. Scholastica single-season records.
She becoems the 14th first team all-region selection in program history, that after helping the Saints to a second consecutive NCAA regional tournament.
St. Scholastica senior Theresa Tauer and freshman Molly Jazdzewski were also named Monday as second team all-Midwest region selections.
Tauer this season broke two career program records, finishing with 155 runs batted in and 54 doubles during her time with the Saints. She also became just the third player in school history with more than 200 career hits.
Jazdzewski, a Duluth Central graduate, hit .368 this season with 10 doubles and five home runs, ranking third on the team in each of those categories.
