Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Six players from the St. Scholastica softball team have been named scholar-athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA), including Ashland, Wis. native Barb Malyuk.
Malyuk joins Merryssa Tiedeman, Bonnie Kowalczyk, Shauney Moen, Jordan Spiering, and Andrea Wick as the six St. Scholastica players to earn the national academic honor.
To qualify, players must be submitted by a member coach and have achieved a 3.50 grade-point average or higher during the 2011-12 academic year.
