Saints' Thiry Named Gagliardi Trophy Finalist

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- St. Scholastica senior quarterback Alex Thiry has been named one of ten finalists for the 2011 Gagliardi Trophy, recognized as the premier individual award in Division III football.

Thiry threw 37 touchdowns for the Saints this season, compared with only three interceptions, and helped lead St. Scholastica to an undefeated regular season and to its first-ever NCAA tournament.

The senior quarterback was named the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year and was also named to the conference's all-sportsmanship team.

Fans will have a chance to vote for their favorite finalists, and the trophy will be presented in Salem, VA on Wednesday, December 14.
