Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Although their official date of pre-season is still over two weeks away, the St. Scholastica women's soccer team will get a head start when they head to Italy on Friday to play two games during their ten-day trip.

The Saints coaching staff along with 14 players will make the trip overseas. The team's first game will be Monday against a second division team out of Milan with their second contest against a team along the coast.

While soccer is bringing the girls to Italy, head coach Dave Reyelts says the trip is about more than just winning games.

"Obviously the soccer part of it, they're geared up and ready for that, but there's also lots of questions about when we're going to the beach and how many shopping opportunities are we going to be able to get," Reyelts said.

"I think they're just excited about the whole experience. We've got a good trip. It's a good balance of soccer and still enough time to allow us to be tourists at the same time."

The first practice on-campus will be on Saturday, August 17.
