Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- St. Scholastica senior men's basketball player Brett Tester has been named the 2013 male recipient of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) scholar-athlete leadership award, it was announced on Friday.

The award, given annually to one male and one female athlete, recognizes student-athletes who demonstrate a healthy balance by achieving excellence in academics, leadership, and service.

Tester maintained a 4.0 grade-point average through his time at St. Scholastica while majoring in accounting and finance, becoming the first player in school history to be named twice to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) academic All-American first team.

The Andover, Minn. native was also just the second player in program history to reach the 1,500-point, 600-rebound plateau in a career, three times earning all-UMAC honors while with the Saints.
