Cloquet, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Fond du Lac volleyball team will have a new look in the 2012 season, with the team returning just one player and welcoming nine new freshman players.

"We have one returner from last year, Dayna Elmer, and she's doing a great job of being a vocal leader," Thunder head coach Laura Sylvester said. "It is really exciting to have nine freshman players in here who want to play and want to be part of something special."

Fond du Lac finished the 2011 season with a (3-20) overall record, but Elmer, a Cromwell native, said she's excited to see what this year's squad can put together.

"Everyone is really close. It's pretty much a heartfelt team," Elmer said. "This team coming in is a really good team. They're all really nice girls."

The Thunder will open the 2012 season at home on August 29 against Vermillion Community College, with that game set for 3:00 p.m. on the Fond du Lac campus.
