Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Hermantown native Kyle Schmidt has a lot to look forward to - he is getting married this summer and plans to play professional hockey in Norway next winter.

UMD hockey fans may not want to see him leave, though, after all Schmidt accomplished in his senior season as a Bulldog.

Schmidt scored the game-winning goal in overtime of the NCAA national championship game against Michigan, was named the National Unsung Hero of the Year, and was selected as the fan's favorite player by the Bulldog faithful.

Schmidt was also awarded last week the WCHA Post-Graduate Scholarship for his performance in the classroom, worth $10,000 toward his graduate degree.

This week on Sammy's Pizza Turn Back the Clock, Tom Hansen looks back at the busy senior season of UMD Bulldog Kyle Schmidt.
