UMD Makes Quick Work of Arkansas Tech

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) volleyball team had to wait nearly an hour past the scheduled start time to get their match underway but wasted no time in sweeping Arkansas Tech 3-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Senior outside hitter and Hibbing, Minn. native Kate Lange led the Bulldogs with 14 kills while Maddy Siroin added 12 and Sydnie Mauch had 11. Junior libero Julie Rainey had 24 digs for UMD.

The region's top seed gave up no more than 16 points in each of the three games, (25-16), (25-13), and (25-16).

UMD will face SMSU on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Romano Gymnasium in the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.
