Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) men's hockey team will be one of five teams to participate in a new statewide showcase in Minnesota, with that tournament set to begin in January 2014.

In addition to UMD, the four-team tournament will include the University of Minnesota, St. Cloud State, Bemidji State, and Minnesota State-Mankato on a rotating basis.

UMD will meet Minnesota State-Mankato in the inaugural tournament's semifinals, with St. Cloud State and Minnesota to play in the other. Bemidji State will be idle the first year.

The inaugural tournament is scheduled for January 24-25 at the Xcel Energy Center, with the showcase's official name yet to be determined.
