UMD Men Unveil 2012-13 Hockey Schedule

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The UMD men's hockey team will play its 48th and final season as part of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) in 2012-13, and on Tuesday the team unveiled its official schedule.

The Bulldogs will open the new campaign with a first-ever series against Ohio State at home on October 12-13, followed by a pair of road games against Notre Dame on October 19-20.

UMD then opens the conference portion of its schedule on October 26-27 when it hosts Wisconsin, which is also playing its final season in the WCHA.

The Bulldogs went (25-10-6) this past season while defending its 2011 NCAA championship, falling in the NCAA regional final to eventual-champion Boston College.

Starting in the 2013-14 season, UMD will start play in the new National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). Five other current WCHA teams will also play in that new conference, while Minnesota and Wisconsin will start play in the Big Ten Conference.
