UMD Men Win, Women Lose NSIC Home Opener

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The UMD men's and women's basketball teams opened the home portions of their conference schedule Friday night, hosting the University of Mary.

The UMD men beat the Marauders 79-75 to improve to (6-3) overall this season while the Bulldogs women fell to (6-3) with a 73-67 loss.

The men were led in scoring by the 18 points of Brett Ervin, and Shelly Stemper paced the women with 20 points in the game.

Barnum native Katrina Newman added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs in the losing effort.
