UMD Opens up Play in NSIC Tournament

Duluth, MN -- The UMD Softball team will open up play in the NSIC Conference Tournament Thursday in Rochester.

They will face University of Mary.

UMD Junior second basemen Tyra Kerr has been named on the All-NSIC first tem while three other Bulldogs.

Junior center fielder Michaela Goris, Sophomore pitcher Megan Mullen and junior pitcher Julia Nealer. They all received all-league second team selections.

Keer is a 3 year starter from Duluth East and leads the NSIC in hitting a .535 batting average.

Mullen has already established several school-single season records in 2012 including wins (25-12), strike outs (258), appearances (42), starts (33) and complete games(31).

She also has eight shutouts to her sophomore year credit, matching the theam mark she set one year ago.

The Bulldogs ARE (36-18 overall) heading into the double-elimination tournament.
