UMD Ranked No. 3 in AVCA Preseason Poll

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) volleyball team will start the 2014 season ranked No. 3 in the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) poll, it was announced Monday.

The Bulldogs are up one spot from the final poll in 2013 and trail only No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul and No. 2 Tampa in the preseason rankings.

UMD won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Tournament a season ago and will start the 2014 season on Thursday, Sept. 4. at Northern Michigan.

Below are listed the top 10 teams from the AFCA preseason poll, with a team's respective first-place votes listed in parentheses.
