Bowling Green, OH (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) men's club rugby team fell to Salisbury 34-17 in the 2013 USA Rugby Collegiate DII National Championship on Sunday morning.

The Fighting Penguins advanced to the national championship after beating Indiana University of Pennsylvania (PA) 59-15 on Saturday in the semi-finals.

Just a year ago, UMD finished with only two victories, but the Fighting Penguins won twenty matches this season. The Fighting Penguins finished an 11-3 record in the fall in the Northern Lights Conference.

This spring, they improved on that mark with a 9-0 record, including a trip to Florida to move to 20-3 on the season, according to our news partners at the Duluth News Tribune.
