Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) senior defensive end Jacob Brusehaver has been nominated for the 2014 American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) Good Works Team, it was announced on Thursday morning.
Brusehaver is one 182 nominees for the national honor, with the final roster of 22 to be unveiled in September. The Good Works Team was created in 1992 and aims to celebrate players' charitable involvement and community service contributions while playing intercollegiate football.
One of five co-captains this upcoming fall for UMD, Brusehaver volunteers several places including the Boys and Girls Club and the Damiano Soup Kitchen, but he says that just comes with the territory.
"I think it's the platform we have, and I just think it's an awesome way to give back to the communities that give so much to us," he said. "You know, it's just fun hanging out with the little kids, helping people out, being a good influence."
UMD finished the 2013 season with an overall record of (11-2) and will begin the 2014 season on Sept. 6 at home against Concordia-St. Paul.
