Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) junior Chanel Miller has been chosen as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) indoor track and field preseason women's athlete of the year, it was announced on Tuesday.

Miller won that honor following the last indoor season, so conference coaches clearly expect her to pick up where she left off for the Bulldogs.

The Burnsville, Minn. native was the top overall points getter at last season's NSIC meet, that after she won the pentathlon and placed second in the 60-meter hurdles, the long jump, and the high jump.

Miller then went on to NCAA Division II meet in the pentathlon where she placed sixth and became UMD's first-ever female athlete to earn All-American status in a multi-event.
