Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth sophomore Chanel Miller has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) indoor women's field athlete of the year, it was announced on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs standout captured the NSIC indoor pentathlon title earlier this month with a school-record 3,798 points, which also currently stands as the second-best total in all of Division II this season.

Miller also finished second in three other events at the NSIC indoor championships, those being the 60-meter hurdles, the long jump, and the high jump.

Also the 2012 NSIC outdoor track and field newcomer of the year, Miller will be in Birmingham, Ala. next week to compete in both the pentathlon and the long jump at the NCAA Division II indoor track and field championships.
