UMD's Rainey Earns NSIC Defensive Honors

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) junior defensive specialist Julie Rainey has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) defensive player of the week, it was announced on Monday afternoon.

Rainey, who serves as a co-captain for the Bulldogs, finished the weekend with 42 digs in two 3-0 wins for UMD over Upper Iowa and Winona State.

UMD is now (15-1) this season and will next be in action on Oct. 8 at home against Northern Michigan, with that match set to start at 7:00 p.m.
