UMD's Rivard Finishes 2nd in NCAA 5,000m

Allendale, MI (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) freshman Samantha Rivard finished in second place on Saturday night in the 5,000-meters at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field championships in Allendale, Mich.

Rivard was at the front of the pack throughout the race before she and eventual champion Alicia Nelson pulled away. Nelson finished with a time of 16:29.60 while the UMD freshman crossed at 16:35.44.

Earlier in the week, Rivard finished in 10th place in the 10,000m. For the fourth time this season, she earned All-American honors.
