Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- UW-Superior sophomore first baseman T.J. Evanson has been named to the all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) first team, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Evanson led the Yellowjackets with a .375 batting average this season, also totaling 10 home runs and 35 runs batted in.
He becomes the first UW-Superior player to earn all-WIAC first team honors since Paul Schlangen and T.J. Wink were selected in 2010.
“T.J. did a lot of good things for our team this season. He is a very gifted baseball player,” head coach Eddy Morgan said. “He has a lot of tools and if he continues to control the things he can control, like his work ethic and how much time he puts into his game, then he will have opportunities to play the game beyond college. He’s a special player who made some great strides between his first two seasons here and I think he has the talent to take an even bigger step next year as a junior.”
UW-Superior senior pitcher Dan Genrich and senior outfielder Robbie Veith received all-WIAC honorable mention, and senior infielder Casey Dittel was the team's selection to the WIAC all-sportsmanship team.
