UWS' Martin Named to All-WIAC First Team

Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Superior, Wis. native and UW-Superior senior Ashley Martin has been named to the all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) first team, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Martin led the Yellowjackets with a .410 batting average in the 2013 season, also leading the team with 78 at-bats, 32 hits, 22 runs scored, and four home runs.

The former Spartans standout earns first team honors for the third time in career, having previously done so in 2010 and 2011. She returned to UW-Superior this year after missing all of 2012 with an injury.

Martin was also a finalist for WIAC player of the year honors, marking the second time she has made it to the final three.

Superior, Wis. native and UW-Superior junior Britnee Blake was given honorable mention, that after she hit .296 with eight runs batted in for the Yellowjackets.
