SUPERIOR (Northland's NewsCenter) - The University of Wisconsin-Superior has announced that the men’s hockey games scheduled for this weekend versus St. Norbert College will be played at Amsoil Arena, as the repairs to the refrigeration system at Wessman Arena continue.
The games will be played Thursday, January 20 at 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, January 21 at 2:30 p.m.
“We realize that this isn’t perfect for anyone involved. We know it is inconvenient for St. Norbert as they have to travel a day earlier than expected and have to adjust their entire weekend schedule. And obviously for us we don’t get to play at home like we would want to,” Athletics Director Steve Nelson said. “But we have to deal with the situation. Ice for the weekend here, in just about every building is already booked, and this was the best available time for us.”
Parking for the games will be in the main ramp at the DECC, at a cost of $4 per-vehicle. Spectators are to use the main Amsoil Arena entrance, where they will be able to purchase their tickets upon entry. Ticket prices will remain the same as they would if the game were played at Wessman Arena: Adults - $8, Senior citizens and non-UWS students - $5. UWS students and children under the age of six are admitted free.
Both games will once again be available on the web through UW-Superior’s on-line partner, AmericaOne. And as usual, both games will be broadcast on KUWS, 91.3 FM in Superior.
It is expected that the Yellowjackets will be able to return to Wessman Arena next weekend, when they are scheduled to host UW-River Falls on Friday, January 28 and UW-Stout on Saturday, January 29.
