Yellowjackets Soccer Collects 'Caps for Cancer'

Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The UWS Yellowjackets men's and women's soccer teams each won 8-0 Wednesday afternoon, all while hosting a special 'Caps for Cancer' event.

The event was aimed at collecting winter hats or baseball caps to give to recovering cancer patients at Essentia Health's Cancer Center.

The Yellowjacket women got a goal from Hermantown native Chelsea Cossin less than a minute into the match against Finlandia, en route to the big win over Finlandia.

UWS also got goals from Northland natives Ana Morse (Duluth), Savannah Schramm (Carlton), Sarah Johnson (Cloquet), and Katelyn Adams (Two Harbors).

The victory moves the Yellowjackets to (5-5) this season, (0-2) in conference play.

The Yellowjacket men, meanwhile, also cruised to an 8-0 win over Finlandia, with Duluth native Mike Sorenson scoring his first collegiate goal in the process.

The win improves UWS' overall record to (7-2) this season, (2-1) in conference play.
