St Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The St. Scholastica baseball team only needed seven innings to down the University of Northwestern 14-4 for its 17th straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament championship on Saturday.
The Saints were down 4-0 after the top of the first but rallied with 14 unanswered runs including eight runs in the bottom of the fifth (seven of which were unearned).
Austin Colvard, Trevor Bernsdorf, Tyler Henderson, Parker Olson, and Jesse Heaton each knocked in two runs for the Saints.
Daniel Wood got the win on the mound after coming in for Jordan Risse in the fourth inning. Wood pitched two scoreless innings, giving up just two hits while striking out three.
St. Scholastica (30-10), who advances to the DII NCAA Tournament, will find out its opponent Monday morning. Regional play begins on Wednesday.
