Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- St. Scholastica senior runner Chelsea Johnson has been named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Division III athlete of the year, it was announced on Tuesday.

Johnson won the school's first-ever NCAA Division III championship this past weekend, finishing the 6-kilometer course in a time of 21:11.7, putting her comfortably ahead of runner-up Noelle Olson.

The win was a program-reocrd sixth straight for the senior runner, who also set a program record with eight wins on the season.

The victory also means Johnson will be named for a second straight year an NCAA Division III All-American, an honor she earned for the fist time in 2012 after finishing 15th at the national meet.
