Hanover, IN (NNCNOW.com) --- St. Scholastica senior Chelsea Johnson won the NCAA Division III women's cross country championship on Saturday morning, finishing 11 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor in Hanover, Ind.
Johnson finished the 6-kilometer race with a time of 21:11.7, putting her comfortably ahead of runner-up Noelle Olson's time of 21:22.3 and making her the first NCAA champion, in any sport, to come from St. Scholastica.
The win is a sixth straight for the senior runner, who now has won a program record eight races this 2013 season.
The victory also means Johnson will be named for a second straight year an NCAA Division III All-American, an honor she earned for the fist time in 2012 after finishing 15th at the national meet.
