Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Four players from the St. Scholastica baseball team have been given all-Midwest region honors by the American Baseball Coaches' Association (ABCA), it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
International Falls, Minn. native Jake Casareto leads a group of three Saints named to the second team, with the other two being Kyle Flagstad and Kyle Jensen.
Casareto earns his first-ever all-region honor, that after he led the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) with a .393 batting average and 39 runs batted in,
The all-region accolade is the second for Flagstad, who was named to the first team in 2012. he finished second in the UMAC with a .391 batting average and led the conference with 20 stolen bases.
It's also the second all-region honor for Jensen, who was named to the third team a year ago. Jensen finished fifth in the UMAC with 46 strikeouts in the 2013 season and holds the fourth-best earned run average (2.01) in Saints program history.
Duluth, Minn. native Mickie Keuning rounded out St. Scholastica's honorees in being named to the third team, that after he led the UMAC with a 1.19 earned run average in the 2013 campaign.
