Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Four Saints athletes from four different teams were named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Athletes of the Week in their respective sports, it was announced on Tuesday.
Mike LaValley led the way as the league's Football Defensive Player of the Week. In St. Scholastica's 41-13 win on Saturday, LaValley returned two interceptions for touchdowns, the first player in program history to do so.
Chelsea Johnson was named the Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after being named the Division III National Women's Athlete of the Week on Monday. Johnson won the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday. It was her third meet win of the season.
It was a clean sweep for St. Scholastica with the Soccer Defensive Players of the Week. Both Tom Corcoran and Logan Williamson received the honors.
Corcoran racked up eight points in two games and was part of a defense that allowed just five shots in two games. Williamson finished with five points in two games as part of a defense that didn't give up a single shot in either game.
