Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Four St. Scholastica athletes have been named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) athlete of the week in their respective sports, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Duluth, Minn. native Nikki Logergren and Hermantown, Minn. native Jeremy Peterson were the two locals to earn awards, while Chrisi Mizera and Brianna Buske were also honored by the UMAC on Tuesday.
Logergren was named the UMAC softball player of the week after she led the Saints to a (4-0) record over the weekend, hitting 5-for-11 with four home runs and 12 runs batted in across those contests.
Mizera was also part of that Saints softball sweep, earning UMAC softball pitcher of the week honors after going (2-0) while striking out 15 hitters and allowing just four hits in 8.2 innings pitched.
Peterson, meanwhile, was named the UMAC men's track and field athlete of the week after he finished fourth in the hammer throw and the discus this past weekend at the Ashton May Invitational, setting a new personal best in the hammer throw with a mark of 182 feet, 1 inch.
Finally, Buske was named the UMAC women's track and field athlete of the week after she finished fourth in the 800-meter run and anchored a 4x400-meter relay that also finished fourth at the Ashton May Invitational.
