December 3, 2013 Updated Dec 3, 2013 at 8:53 PM CDT

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Four St. Scholastica football players have been named to the Capial One Academic All-American first team, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Seniors Cory Gebhard and Alec French earn the honor for the second straight season, while senior Jake Jensen and junior Blake Cedarleaf each were named to the first team for the first time in their careers.

Gebhard and French are only the second and thirds Saints players ever to earn this particular honor twice, with Brett Tester becoming the first following last winter with the men's basketball team.

To be eligible for Academic All-American consideration, a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 and have reached the status of sophomore within his or her current institution.
