Johnson Named Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- For the first time in school history, St. Scholastica senior Chelsea Johnson was named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DIvision III Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2013.

Johnson was the individual champion at the 2013 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships last November while maintaining a 3.45 GPA as a nursing major.

The North Branch, Minn. native becomes the first St. Scholastica and Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) athlete to earn the honor from USTFCCCA.

Johnson's teammate Liz Braml was also named to the All-Academic Team along with Chris Lawson from the men's team.
