Saints' Johnson is UMAC Rookie of the Year

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- St. Scholastica freshman Rendi Johnson has been named the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) softball rookie of the year, it was announced on Monday afternoon.

Johnson led the conference in the pitcher's circle with a 1.36 earned run average against UMAC opponents, also finishing in the top five with six wins and a .226 opponents' batting average.

The Bonney Lake, Wash. native also led the UMAC at the plate with nine doubles this season. She finished third in the conference with 23 runs batted in and third with a .475 batting average.

Johnson was also one of four St. Scholastica players to earn all-UMAC first team honors, that following a season in which the Saints won the regular season title for a fifth straight time.
