Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The St. Scholastica men's hockey team held its first official practices of the 2012-13 season on Monday afternoon, starting the program's final season as a member of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA).

The Saints will leave the NCHA in favor of the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) beginning in the 2013-14 season, that after a conference restructuring plan was accelerated due to scheduling concerns.

Last season, St. Scholastica posted a (15-8-4) record and were ousted in the NCHA semifinals. Head coach Mark Wick is returning for his ninth season with the program after being named the NCHA coach of the year following the 2011-12 season.

The Saints open the year October 26-27 on the road to Northland rival UW-Superior, with both those games set to start at 7:07 p.m.
