Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The St. Scholastica football team reported to preseason camp on Saturday afternoon with over 80 players including 13 starters from the squad that qualified for its second straight NCAA tournament appearance last season.
The team's first practice will be Monday morning with a walk-through before fitness testing in the afternoon.
The Saints were also picked to win the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) last week after the preseason coaches' poll was released.
St. Scholastica finished 2012 at (7-1) in the UMAC including a share of the conference title.
Head coach Greg Carlson knows there will be an extra spotlight on his guys come this fall.
"We're excited. You know, we have a good group of kids that had a good offseason so hopefully we can take the field and be mentally prepared and have high expectations. Now that we've won a little bit in the last couple of years, there's a bit more pressure on the kids to perform well and win some games."
The Saints season opener is set for September 7 on the road against Whitworth.
