Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- St. Scholastica's Alec Seeley and Rachel Miller have been named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III all-academic team, it was announced on Wednesday.
For Seeley, this marks her third consecutive year earning this honor, becoming the first ever St. Scholastica athlete to have done so. She has also been named to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) all-academic team four times in her career.
The senior thrower also qualified for the both the indoor and outdoor NCAA Division III track and field championships this past season, placing 10th in the indoor weight throw and 14th in the outdoor hammer throw.
Miller, meanwhile, just missed qualifying for the outdoor NCAA track and field championships in the triple jump. She was the first athlete left out of the national meet, that after qualifying in 2011.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher and have competed in an NCAA championship that year or be ranked among the top national performers in any one event.
