Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The St. Scholastica volleyball team will leave on Thursday morning on its longest road trip of this 2013 season --- the Saints are headed to Spokane, Wash. to play in a four-team tournament hosted by Whitworth.

The Saints this season are (2-2) after winning two matches at a tournament hosted by St. Olaf before dropping a pair at the St. Mary's Sugar Classic.

Head coach Dana Moore says out-of-state trips early in the season are a great way to build team chemistry, but this one has some added wrinkles.

"I've never flown with a team. We've taken a bus cross-country to Oregon and New York, so this is very different," Moore said. "That in itself, putting all those particulars together, is a bit different."

The volleyball team won't be alone in Spokane, though. The school's football team will be also flying out on Friday for a Saturday game against Whitworth.

"We'll go support them on Saturday and then come back," Moore said, "after the football game to do the actual playoff round [in our tournament.] It should be a great trip."

The volleyball team will leave on Thursday for Spokane and will return home on Monday.
