Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The St. Scholastica men's hockey team jumped out to a 3-0 lead on Friday night and held on for a 4-2 win over UW-Superior in game one of a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Peters Cup series at Mars Lakeview Arena.

Brandon Nowakowski, Paul Marcoux, Tyler Miller, and Garet Chumley all scored goals for the Saints in the winning effort, and goaltender Colin Rundell made 32 saves.

The Yellowjackets' Jeff Forsythe and Michael Ray each scored a goal in the third period to bring UW-Superior within one, but the comeback fell just short for the visitors.

The same two teams will play again at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday at Mars Lakeview Arena, with UW-Superior needing a win to force a mini-game to decide which team will earn a berth into the Peters Cup semifinals.
