Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) junior Katrina Newman and senior Kaiya Sygulla have each been honored by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), it was announced on Tuesday.
Newman, a native of Barnum, Minn., was named to the all-NSIC first team leading the Bulldogs this season with 15.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
The former Bombers standout scored in double digits in 23 of 27 games for UMD, and she also posted eight double-doubles in the 2012-13 campaign.
Sygulla, meanwhile, was named to the NSIC all-defensive team following her senior season, that after starting all 27 games this year and averaging 1.7 steals per contest.
The outgoing UMD captain also posted 4.5 points and 3.3 assists per game for the Bulldogs this season, adding to that 4.3 rebounds every time out.
