Watt Breaks NCAA Record, Saints to Final

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- St. Scholastica senior Joe Watt broke the NCAA Division III record for most assists in a single-season on Wednesday afternoon, dishing out his 31st and 32nd this year in a 4-0 win for the Saints over Bethany Lutheran in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) semifinals.

Watt also scored two goals in the contest to account for a six-point game, putting him at 70 for the season and closer to team leader Andrew Jenkins, who has 72.

Adam Hewitt and Bryan Nyberg combined to make two stops in goal to earn the shutout for the Saints, with Bethany Lutheran using two goalkeepers to make 10 saves.

St. Scholastica is now (16-2-3) this season and will take on Minnesota-Morris in the UMAC championship game, with that scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 in Duluth, Minn.
